Alec provides insight into his mindset associated with constantly adapting to new coaches, new swim squads, transitioning to triathlon in Russia and then taking his talents to the world platform which lasted over 10 years.

Alec has agreed to come back and share his coping mechanisms associated with facing such dauting tasks and overcoming the reality of showing up in America with $39 dollars in his pocket with no place to live and not knowing where your next opportunity for income resides.
Background & Accomplishments
Alec Rukosuev is a retired professional triathlete originally from Omsk, Russia. Born in 1967, he had a distinguished career both in Russia and the United States. In Russia, he excelled as a distance swimmer, becoming the Russian National Champion in the 1500m freestyle in 1991. He transitioned to triathlons, where he continued to achieve notable success.
Alec defected from Russia and later became an American citizen. During his triathlon career, he was ranked #1 in the USA in three separate years and competed in six Ironman competitions, including a notable 13th place finish at the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii.
After retiring from professional competition, Alec turned to coaching. He has been highly successful in this role, earning the prestigious American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA) Level 5 certification, a distinction held by only a small percentage of top swim coaches in the USA. As the head coach and owner of Fast Lane Aquatics, he has trained numerous top-ranked swimmers and triathletes, including Olympians and national record holders.
Alec’s coaching philosophy emphasizes dedication, focus, and determination, traits he aims to instill in his athletes. His coaching has produced significant results, with many of his swimmers achieving top rankings and setting records at various competitive levels.
Beyond his professional achievements, Alec has also been involved in community activities, such as giving clinics to young triathletes in Bermuda, where he has encouraged high standards and a competitive mindset.
